Setting out, and big items
- When to put it outPut carts out no earlier than 7 p.m. the night before and no later than 6 a.m. on collection day. Carts must be back at the side or rear of your home by 8 p.m. the day after collection. Place them on top of the curb facing the street, 3 feet apart and 5 feet from mailboxes, gas meters, hydrants and parked cars. Source
- Furniture and other large itemsBulky waste (furniture, carpet, appliances, fencing, tree limbs cut to 10 feet or less, DIY debris) is collected once a month during a three-day window that starts on your assigned day. Set items out loose by 6 a.m., but not more than three days early, with 5 feet of clearance. No bags of any kind are taken. The first 4 cubic yards are included in your bill and larger piles are charged per yard. Call (405) 297-2833 before setting out refrigerators, freezers or AC units with Freon (doors removed) and basketball goals. Source
Parking rules and permits
Parking
- Parking on lawns, sidewalks and the right-of-wayIt's a code violation to park on an unpaved surface, a city sidewalk or the public right-of-way, and that includes boats, trailers and RVs. The strip between the curb and the sidewalk is generally part of the right-of-way. Source
- Abandoned and inoperative vehiclesWrecked, dismantled, inoperative or junked vehicles left on public or private property for more than 72 hours are a public nuisance. Cars abandoned in the street can be towed; report them to the city's Action Center. Source
Permits
- Garage sale permitA garage sale permit costs $10, can be bought online or by phone from the License Division, and covers three consecutive days at one address between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. You may put one sign in front of your house (12 square feet max), but none on poles, medians or the right-of-way. Holding a sale without a permit can bring a fine of up to $200 plus costs. Source
- Requesting a parking restriction on your streetTo add or remove a restriction such as No Parking Anytime or time-limited parking, circulate a petition to everyone affected. Then send the original petition to the Public Works Traffic Management Division, and most requests go before the Traffic and Transportation Commission at a public hearing. Source
